Connecting Hartwick with State Resources

Poweshiek Development brought Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) representatives; Sacha Wise, of the Center for Rural Revitalization, and Jim Thompson (Jimmy T), of the Downtown Resource Center, to Hartwick on July 28th for a firsthand look at the community and to introduce local leaders and businesses to resources available through the state.

Mayor Carma Craig, City Council members, City Clerk Carolyn Allee, and local business owners joined the visit, which included a walking tour and conversation about Hartwick’s businesses, community assets, and opportunities.

The group visited Hartwick’s fire Department & Community Center, a local tractor resale and repair business, Hartwick Ag, and the community park that serves as a gathering place for local events.

The visit gave Sacha and Jimmy T. an opportunity to see Hartwick firsthand and hear directly from the people who live, work, own businesses, and serve the community. It also gave Hartwick leaders a direct connection to IEDA and a better understanding of resources that may support future projects and opportunities.

Making these connections is an important part of Poweshiek Development’s countywide work. By bringing partners and resources directly into our communities, we can help connect local needs and opportunities with the people and programs that may be able to help.
